“What I saw at last year’s Freelancers Union gala…” ~Andrea Gordillo

Dear Peter,

Last fall, I walked into the Freelancers Union’s 30th annual gala for the very first time. I had no idea that less than a year later, I’d be leading the organization.

But my relationship with Freelancers Union began earlier, when the Union endorsed my campaign for New York City Council. As a former freelancer and life long advocate of creative and working people, I was deeply proud to have the support of an organization that understood something I believed deeply: working for yourself should not mean fighting for yourself.

And last year’s gala reminded me just how special it is to be in a room full of people who believe that, too.

That’s why I’m excited to invite you to this year’s benefit.

On November 19 at The Lighthouse in Greenpoint, we’ll bring together freelance champions who advocate for independent workers and friends to celebrate what we’re building together, to help support the fight for greater rights.

There will be great food, an open bar, and Italo-Disco vinyl records spun by my friend Danilo Braca. You’ll meet some of the people fighting for freelancers every day, reconnect with old friends, make some new ones, and, hopefully, dance a little.

Will you join us?
