Minnesota House GOP representatives send letter to DHS Secretary Noem rebuking recent comments from Gov. Walz
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KTTC) – Republican representatives from the Minnesota State House signed a letter penned by Rep. Ben Davis (R-6A) pledging support to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and condemning recent remarks made by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
“Governor Walz’s claims are reckless and appear driven more by political pandering to the most radical elements of his base than by any sincere concern for public safety.” Rep. Davis says in the letter, “His letter attacks federal agents who put their lives on the line every day to keep Americans safe, uphold the rule of law, and protect this nation from those who seek to do it harm.”
The letter and remarks referenced by the letter to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem refers to the December 10th letter Walz sent to the secretary.
“Residents who document law-enforcement activity, including immigration enforcement, play an essential role in transparency, accountably, and safeguarding the civil liberties of all in Minnesota,” Walz said in his letter to Noem. “Detaining citizens for exercising these rights sends a deeply disturbing signal about how those very rights are being eroded.”
