Here's one thing 91% of freelancers can agree on
To our freelance community —
Late last year, we circulated a healthcare survey to our members to get a better sense of how our community will be affected should the Affordable Care Act enhanced subsidies expire. Over 600 of you took the survey, and through your responses, we learned that while 58% of you purchase healthcare through the state marketplace, 91% of freelancers support extending the enhanced subsidies.
This is an overwhelming amount of consensus. And freelancers aren’t afraid to vote about it, either. Eighty-two percent of freelancers said access to healthcare affects how they vote in elections.
With midterm elections around the corner — and Congress still gridlocked on the future of the subsidies — we are letting elected officials know that there are millions of freelancers who will be voting with healthcare on their mind.
The full results from our survey are available in this blog post. Freelancers make our economy work; we deserve a healthcare system that works for us in turn.
In solidarity,
